Art. 4.- Aims and Activities

  1. The purposes of the Association are:
    • Creation of a centre for bibliographic documentation and studies on the Pilgrim’s Way to Santiago.
    • Organization of trips on the Way, gatherings, conferences and informative activities on the subject.
    • Study and research on similar phenomena in the Valencia Region.
    • To promote and coordinate work in order to revitalise, defend, conserve, research, clean up, protect the environment and promote the historical and cultural heritage of the Roads of Santiago.
    • Promote all kinds of Cultural Paths and Itineraries.
    • To attend, inform and train the Pilgrims.
    • Promote social volunteering: 
      • To attend the Pilgrims’ Hostels (Voluntary Hospitalers).
      • For the maintenance, conservation and marking of the Cultural Paths and Routes.
    • Any other activity related to the established aims.

  2. The following activities will be carried out for the fulfilment of the listed purposes:
    • Information and support for pilgrims, travellers and any other persons or entities that show their interest in the Ways of Santiago in its different aspects: pilgrimage, culture, leisure, hiking.
    • Studies, research and historical-cultural publications on the Ways of Saint James and their surroundings.
    • Actions before public or private organisations, relations with people, institutions or organisations of an international, regional, provincial or local nature for the promotion of the Ways of Saint James as cultural itineraries.
    • Promotion of any type of cultural activities, conferences, congresses, exhibitions, trips and pilgrimages.
    • Organization, management and delivery of courses for volunteer staff whose destination is the care of pilgrim hostels, information offices, work camps and in general, any other activity related to the Roads of Santiago as cultural itineraries.
    • Attention to facilities and institutions dedicated especially to helping pilgrims, through collaboration in the creation of shelters and refuges.
    • Organization, administration and management of facilities for the care of pilgrims and information on the Roads of Santiago.
    • Collaboration with as many civil or ecclesiastical entities as allow us to expand and strengthen common objectives, especially with the Spanish Federation of Associations of Friends of the Camino de Santiago.
